“Chasing Carlsbad” is an original piece I wrote to capture the feeling I get when my wife and I vacation in Carlsbad, CA. The place holds a special meaning for us, and this tune blends fingerstyle guitar techniques with a Latin-style chromatic musical structure to reflect the calm yet energizing vibe of the area.
For this performance, I played a Maton Guitar and incorporated fingerstyle techniques along with a Boss RC-30 Loop Station to build the layers of sound. The track is influenced by Joe Pass, Pat Metheny, Toots Thielemans, Miles Davis, John Coltrane, and Art Pepper, all of whom inspire my playing style.
