“What Child Is This”, also known as “Greensleeves”, is a timeless Christmas carol originally written by William Chatterton Dix in 1865, set to the traditional English folk song “Greensleeves”. I love performing this classic, especially with a jazz twist on guitar and mandolin. The improvisational nature of this song makes it a lot of fun to play, and I’m excited to bring a jazz vibe to it.
For the 2019 Christmas season, I plan to add vocals and perform it with a jazz trio, bringing even more creativity and freshness to this beloved song.
In this One Man Band performance, I’m playing a RainSong Black Ice Series BI-WS1000N2 Graphite Carbon Fiber Acoustic-Electric Guitar, paired with a Boss ME-80 guitar multi-effects pedal, running through a Boss RC-30 Loop Pedal and a Fishman Solo Performance System SA220 PA.
