“Sleigh Ride” is one of the most challenging and fun Christmas songs I play. Written by Leroy Anderson in 1949, this classic carol has become a favorite over the years. I play it in a smooth samba groove with a chill jazz vibe, improvising over the melody and finding new twists and turns each time I perform it.
This holiday classic is a great tune to perform with a jazz trio, and I plan to add vocals and more creative exploration when I take it to the stage in the future.
In this One Man Band performance, I’m playing an American Elite Stratocaster HSS Shawbucker Electric Guitar with a Boss ME-80 guitar multi-effects pedal, going through a Boss RC-30 Loop Pedal and a Fishman Solo Performance System SA220 PA.
