🎶 La Samba – Ray Obiedo & Andy Narell Cover (Solo Guitar & Vocals Performance)

In this video, I’m performing “La Samba”, a tune written and recorded by guitarist Ray Obiedo. Andy Narell, the steel drum player, also has a version of this song that’s well known in the Latin jazz community. I started playing this song with J.T., a multi-instrumentalist and percussionist, back in the 1990s. It’s still one of my favorites to play, and I have fond memories performing it with J.T. and his various ensembles.
This live music performance was recorded at the Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the Cochise / Geronimo Clubhouse restaurant on August 3, 2019. I’ve been performing for the Desert Mountain community since 2002, and it’s always an incredible place to entertain.

I used the loop feature in the VE-8 to create a loop of the verse and chorus chord changes, which gave me the foundation to solo over.
