🎶 Wicked Game – Chris Isaak Cover (Solo Mandolin Performance)
Performed by Walt Pitts | Prime Vibe Music

In this performance, I’m playing my cover of “Wicked Game” by Chris Isaak, a song I absolutely love to perform. The simplicity of the basic three chords — A minor, G major, and D major — always reminds me of the saying “less is more.” This tune proves that great things can come from a few well-placed elements.

This live music performance was recorded at the Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, at the Cochise / Geronimo Clubhouse restaurant on August 3, 2019. I’ve been performing for the Desert Mountain community since 2002, and I’m grateful for the amazing crowd I get to entertain.

🎸 Tech Setup for the Performance

  • Mandolin: Michael Kelly Legacy Dragonfly Acoustic-Electric Mandolin

  • Pedal: Boss GT-1 Guitar Multi-effects Pedal

  • Processor: Boss VE-8 Acoustic Singer Processor (mandolin and vocal signals separated)

  • PA System: Bose S1 Pro

  • Backing Track: Created with Band in a Box for Mac (played via iPad)

  • Video Recording: iPhone X with Olloclip Super-Wide Pro Lens

  • Audio Recording: Roland GO:MIXER PRO Audio Mixer into the iPhone X

  • Camera Mount: Joby GripTight PRO Mount attached to a light stand, with the Roland GO:MIXER held by an IK Multimedia iKlip Xpand

I used the loop feature in the VE-8 to capture the basic chord progression, giving me a foundation to solo over.
