🎶 O Christmas Tree – Walt Pitts | Jazz Vibe Christmas Carol | O Tannenbaum Fingerstyle Guitar

I’ve always loved playing “O Christmas Tree”, also known as “O Tannenbaum”, and adding my own jazz twist to it by playing in 4/4 time. This traditional carol, based on a folk song, became associated with the Christmas tree in the early 20th century, and the modern lyrics were written by Ernst Anschütz in 1824.
One of my biggest influences is the late great Joe Pass, and I always strive to reach his level of playing, especially on this tune. I’ve added a bit of jazz exploration into the harmony and melody, creating my own version of this timeless classic.
In this One Man Band performance, I’m playing a RainSong Black Ice Series BI-WS1000N2 Graphite Carbon Fiber Acoustic-Electric Guitar with a Boss ME-80 guitar multi-effects pedal, running through a Boss RC-30 Loop Pedal and a Fishman Solo Performance System SA220 PA. The RC-30 Loop Pedal helps me layer the chord changes to support the performance as I play the melody and explore the song further.
