Norwegian Wood / Fingerstyle Guitar Live Cover by Walt Pitts

Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney and originally performed by The Beatles on the Rubber Soul album in 1965.

I play Norwegian Wood quite a bit differently than the original by changing the time from 3/4 (6/8) to 4/4, adding a few chord substitutions picking up the tempo, changing the key, and incorporating Travis style guitar fingerpicking. I love opening this song up for solos!

This live music performance was recorded at the Desert Mountain Club in Scottsdale, Arizona, in the Cochise / Geronimo Clubhouse restaurant on August 3, 2019, while performing for Desert Mountain members and guests.

I’ve regularly been performing for the Desert Mountain Club community since 2002 and couldn’t ask for a better place to play and entertain.

Here’s some tech stuff If you’re interested in the setup and gear used for the video.

I’m playing a RainSong Black Ice acoustic / electric guitar plugged into a Boss GT-1 Guitar Multi-effects Pedal going into a Boss VE-8 Acoustic Singer processor, the vocal mic plugged into the VE-8.

I separate the guitar signal to the left output and the vocal signal to the right output of the VE-8.

And then connect the guitar signal into channel 1, and the vocal signal into channel 2 into a Bose S1 Pro PA System. I used the loop feature in the VE-8 to create a loop of the verse and chorus chord changes to solo over.

I shot this video with a Canon 80D DSLR camera.

The audio was recorded by sending the output of the Bose S-1 P.A. into the Canon 80D mic input.
